Which F1 driver has the most podiums in the hybrid era?

Which F1 driver has the most podiums in the hybrid era?

In 2014, we saw formula one head in a new direction, entering the turbo-hybrid era, since then there has been a whole host of race winners and podium placers, but who has the most?

Mercedes have won the Constructors’ Championship in all eight seasons since then, so it’s no surprise that their drivers dominate the list.

Max Verstappen moved up the list with his podium at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend, but how does he fare against the other drivers?

9.Sergio Perez

The Mexican is on 18 podiums, with the majority coming as a Red Bull driver, with that number likely to rise throughout this season with his team leading the Constructors’ Championship at the moment.

8. Charles Leclerc

Although on 18 podiums like Perez, Leclerc edges it on the list because he has more race wins. He’s pushing for a maiden world crown this season with Ferrari, so that number is expected to go up before the season is out.

7. Kimi Raikkonen

The Flying Finn has left a huge hole in Formula One after retiring last season, but the former world champion still makes this list, having achieved 26 podiums in the turbo-hybrid era. He has a decent cushion to those below him, so Raikkonen won’t be losing his place on here in a hurry.

6.Daniel Ricciardo

The loveable Aussie has had a difficult season with McLaren so far, but with 32 podium he’s been one of the better performers in the turbo-hybrid era. After leaving Red Bull, he was back on the podium last season with his dramatic win at Monza.

5. Nico Rosberg

Former Mercedes world champion Nico Rosberg is the last retired driver on this list having stepped on the podium 46 times before retiring in 2016 as a world champion, after finally beating teammate and childhood friend, Lewis Hamilton at the third time of asking.

4.Sebastian Vettel

Another German is in the top 9, having dominated the pre-turbo-hybrid era, Vettel couldn’t add to his four world titles with Ferrari, but he was incredibly consistent as one of the top drivers at that time. However, he is now struggling at the back of the grid in a hard to handle Aston Martin car.

3. Valtteri Bottas

Alfa Romeo’s star man shows us just how good he’s been in his five years with Mercedes, delivering five Constructors’ titles to the Silver Arrows, amassing 67 podiums to cement himself as a great of the turbo-hybrid era.

2. Max Verstappen

Current world champion Verstappen has surpassed Bottas now with 68 podiums after the Austrian Grand Prix second place he delivered. He’s the leading driver at the moment in the standings, so the gap to Bottas will surely be stretched.

1.Lewis Hamilton

Unsurprisingly, Lewis Hamilton has the most podiums in the turbo-hybrid era, delivering an eye-watering 132. He’s on a run of three consecutive top threes, so that obscene amount will only grow. The GOAT of motorsport, the turbo-hybrid era sees Hamilton win six/eight world titles, finishing runner up in the two years he didn’t win.
